I'm assuming that your spouse or parent might not be available to take care of the child. They are the best persons to go to if you needed some time off.

Otherwise, if your child is below the age of 3, the following ideas would work:

1. Spending time out at child friendly place eg. Indoor playground with age appropriate play facilities would help. Usually such places also have a small cafe that overlooks the play area so you can keep an eye on your child as you enjoy your much needed coffee break. Vice versa, a cafe with child friendly facilities would work.

2. Get a friend over. You can enjoy the company and some normalcy of adult conversation and having two pair of eyes looking after the child help remove some stress.

3. Find a child drop off for an hour or two. Some shopping Malls offer a kids club where you can drop your kids off ( above a certain age eg. 2 years) and they will have some simple art and craft to engage your child and a child minder service. You can go off for your much needed retail therapy.

4. Depending on the age of your child, if they can sit still for 2 hours, you can bring them to a movie. This works for my child even when she was slightly below 2. Popcorn always works.
